Project Planning
Following competitor analysis and interviews, I developed a user flow for three primary functionalities (creating a profile, searching for new artists, and making a playlist)
Three additional features were also outlined (viewing lyrics, advanced search, and social interactions) based on preliminary research.
Low to Mid-Fidelity Wireframes
I started by sketching and then created low-fidelity wireframes in Figma, keeping in mind the desired functionalities and user flow, and conducted usability testing with friends. The design included standard features like a bottom navigation bar and required multiple iterations for more complex elements like the advanced search function.
Colors
I designed the app's color scheme for a nostalgic yet usable look, using a white "Memphis" background with pastel geometric shapes in Illustrator.
The main UI features a flat minimal design with a dominant lilac purple, complemented by black, off-white, and yellow and lavender accents, ensuring clarity and contrast with pure white text.

Final Thoughts
What went well?
The app’s distinctive design established a strong visual identity, setting the stage for the final design.
What were the challenges?
Creating an innovative search function was complex and time-intensive. Developing a usable color scheme that reflects the Memphis design required several iterations.
What could be improved?
Adding a dark mode could enhance user experience for extended use, matching features found in other music apps.
